Dundee Creative Well-Being Culture and Community

We want to ensure that the women we work with area aware of and have access to the wealth of cultural provision in Dundee. Engaging with arts and culture has been shown to support better mental health and wellbeing, increased social connections and a greater sense of belonging to a place, which in turn leads to more willingness and desire to participate in community life.

We work with partners across Dundee and further afield to organise visits to museums and galleries, exhibition tours, expert workshops and more.

Explore this page to learn more about the Arts & Culture activities we have engaged in recently as part of the programme.

We've also carried out a range of creative and heritage projects with external partners.

Theatre Trips

Our women have gone on various theatre trips, including Stella Quines' invitation to see their play Sister Radio by Sara Shaarawi at Perth Theatre, and Lubna Kerr's Chatterbox at Dundee Rep Theatre.

We've also toured Dundee Rep Theatre with Creative Practitioner Amanda Lowson, joined drama games, and saw 112 tins of paint used to create the sets for 2025's panto!

Knit and Natter

With facilitators from the V&A Museum, our women knitted and crocheted squares using natural fibres to be added to a prototype hydroponic quilt.  This will be interspersed with seeds and laid on the land where seeds will germinate, to encourage soil restoration.

V&A exhibitions and workshops

We are grateful to the V&A for their support in facilitating tours of several of their recent exhibitions, including Garden Futures and Thread Memory: Embroidery From Palestine, including a workshop exploring Palestinian embroidery, tatreez.

Several members of our group also participated in workshops to create a community contribution to the Thread Memory exhibition, which will be on display in 2026.
